This Pembrokeshire holiday hotspot was not only voted the nation’s favourite place to take a break (by WalesOnline and Western Mail readers) but also picked up the accolade of best UK coastal resort at the 2016 British Travel Awards – the Love Cottages team can see why! We’re talking about Tenby of course.

Perched on a hill, this pretty little village on the Welsh South Coast – with its darling cobbled streets, picture box gift shops, quaint cafes and quayside restaurants – has an old English feel.  A trendy tourist destination with travellers from both sides of the border for over 200 years, Tenby has a busy boating community which keeps one of the UK’s most active lifeboat stations ticking over.   

A seaside stroll south towards Giltar Point puts you on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path from which you can look out to beautiful Caldey Island. The Island, which is owned by monks of The Cistercian Order and boasts a designated conservation area, can be reached by boat or by foot from Tenby depending on the tide.  As well as offering a wealth of wildlife to spot, there’s an ancient priory and tea house on the island that are well worth a visit.  

Fossil fanatics will delight in a trip to Tenby Dinosaur Park whose dinosaur trail, playgrounds, rides and activities will keep children of all ages happy. If you prefer a rhino and tiger to a Triceratops and sabre-tooth, Manor House Wildlife Park should be on your list.

Culture vultures will love travelling back to the 15th century, when Tenby had a bustling sea trade at home and abroad, at the National Trust’s Tudor Merchant’s House where there’s all manner of things to see and do.
