Holidays in Lancashire

Lancashire is the kind of county where life’s all about getting outdoors, taking in the scenery however you love to best and then enjoying some peace and quiet over a hearty meal and a pint of real ale. It’s a place to rediscover the things you love doing in a place that makes them all the more delightful.

The Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty couldn’t be more peaceful if it tried, and if you’re not sure where to start then we’d point you in the direction of Pendle Hill. Now it may be a bit of a climb, but the views are well worth it, and there’s an enchanting atmosphere to the area that’s lingered since its part in the famous 1612 Witch Trials.

There’s nothing quite like a long walk with a sea breeze in your face, and The Lancashire Coastal Way makes it easy for walkers to take in some of the county’s unique coastal views. The footpath rolls on for 137 gorgeous miles all the way from Merseyside to Cumbria, and if we had to pick our favourite sections then it would have to be Morcambe Bay and the Bowland Fells. Morcambe Bay’s home to some of Britain’s prettiest coastline, and we should mention that its sunsets will stop you in your tracks.

Lancashire’s packed with family attractions for those days out during your stay, and The Museum of Lancashire in Preston makes a great starting point as it tells the tale of the county’s history with displays and interactives that make it fun for kids as well as mums and dads. And as if we’d tell you about Lancashire without including a steam train! Ribble Steam Railway takes its passengers back to the golden age of steam and into the county’s countryside.

This beautiful region is packed with things to do, book a Lancashire cottage today and start the countdown to your holiday.
