Holidays in Anglesey
With a coastline that rolls on for 125 beautiful miles, Anglesey rejuvenate’s the weary and relaxes the stressed. It also reminds visitors just how exciting it feels to wake up on the first day of a holiday with views of landscapes that are just waiting to be discovered.
If you can’t wait to roll out of bed and tug on your walking boots then it’s time to discover your favourite section of the Isle of Anglesey Coast Path. A dramatic way to experience the rugged coastline on foot, the coastal path includes some pretty steep climbs along the way – but if you’re feeling up to it you’ll be rewarded with views that’ll stop you in your tracks. No matter which section of the coast you choose to wander, you’ll pass some breathtaking sights as you go.
It’s not only walking that entices lovers of the great outdoors on Anglesey holidays though, the coastline lends itself to all kinds of activities to help blow the cobwebs out. If you’ve always had a feeling you’d be a natural at sailing (or longboarding or diving for that matter) this is the place to give it a go.
There are lots of very pretty towns to visit including Beaumaris and Holyhead. It’s also worth popping along to Menai Bridge, home to two stunning bridges – Thomas Telford’s Menai Suspension Bridge and Robert Stephenson’s Britannia Bridge. In the town itself you’ll find restaurants and pubs a’plenty and we recommend heading down to the church of St Tysilio which offers breathtaking views of the Strait itself.
And then there’s the history. We love Llynnon Mill, the only working windmill in the whole of Wales. Constructed in 1775, the windmill still produces stoneground wholemeal flour from organic wheat, and a visit enables visitors to peer into the past and get a glimpse of how life once was. In fact, you don’t have to look very far to see Anglesey’s history throughout the region…from the suspension bridge created by Thomas Telford, to the copper mine that was once a hub of activity at Amlwch, Anglesey has a historic day out to suit every kind of visitor.
From the comfort of your Anglesey holiday cottage make the most of your holiday and snap up your own slice of history.
