Holidays in Newport

A holiday in Newport is for those who want to experience everything that makes Wales so popular without having to travel from one region to another. Newport’s diverse, and that means that no matter what you’re into, or which side of the Welsh way of life you want to embrace, there’s a way to do it.

Take the landscape for example, with all the advantages of a thriving coastal city, Newport’s also within easy reach of the Wye Valley and the beautiful Brecon Beacons (you can be at either one within an hour by car), so whether you fancy a day hiking the countryside that’s inspired visitors for centuries, or you’re content to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city, the choice is yours.

Now how’s this for a day out with a difference? Newport’s home to Caerleon, the remains of a Roman town. Caerleon Roman Fortress and Baths form one of the most impressive attractions in Wales, and not only are they fascinating for visitors of all ages but they’re free to visit too. Peer down at the remains of what were once elaborate leisure baths for the people who called the area home, and if you want to make a day of it there’s a cycle trail that’s largely free from traffic that connects the city centre to Caerleon. Many choose to hire bikes in the city centre and then make their way to the Roman remains on two wheels.

Those of you with a passion for golf will know that Newport is closely connected with the sport, and if you’ve been keen to enjoy a few rounds in the city since it hosted The Ryder Cup back in 2010 then guests are always greeted with a warm welcome at Newport Golf Club.

Make a Newport holiday cottage your home from home whilst you explore all that this extraordinary region has to offer.
