Holidays in Hayle

All hail Hayle, a holiday-maker’s haven and a mecca for walkers and their four-legged friends! This West Cornwall gem is located close to St Ives Bay and has no less than three miles of golden sands to make your toes tingle. With a whole host of huts and lodges offering sea views to choose from, what are you waiting for?

Boasting World Heritage Site status and significance in Cornwall’s mining past, Hayle’s ancient tin trading importance and copper smelting history are nothing to be sniffed at. We suggest you take the Hayle town trail and that a visit to Hayle’s Oral History Centre, where all will be revealed, should be your first port of call.

For further strolls and hikes, venture into the surrounding countryside or stay in town, which has a “Walkers Are Welcome” status. Take in the King George V Memorial Walk – a level trail of less than one mile along the Copperhouse tidal pool, a throwback to Hayle’s role in the Industrial Revolution and today rich with wildlife – you’ll not be disappointed. Stop for a pint of Cornwall Pale Ale and a pasty after and you’ll be whole-heartedly contented!

Nature nuts will levitate towards The Hayle Estuary Reserve, the UK’s most south westerly RSPB estuary which comprises pools and marshes too, where flocks of wetland birds from curlews and oystercatchers to teals and widgeons can be found.

Many coastal delights including Hayle Towans, Black Cliff, Mexico Towans and Peter’s Point are waiting to be discovered. Perfect for swimming, snorkelling and surfing alike, you’ll want to feel that Atlantic breeze in your hair and dive into Hayle’s restorative waters sooner rather than later.

Stay in a dog-friendly Hayle holiday cottage or seaside chalet and you’ll also be well placed to explore the myth and legend of island castle St Michael’s Mount, which you can reach on foot or by boat depending on tides. Nearby Paradise Park, a wildlife sanctuary set in Victorian gardens, with its 650+ birds and animals also promises to be an otterly fantastic day out for all the family.
