Holidays in Ayrshire

No two days are ever the same in Ayrshire…one day you can be picking up bargains in a busy market town and the next, miles from the madding crowds and looking out at some of the finest scenery you’ll ever see. Life in the region is all about embracing new experiences and indulging in great food and local tipple. When’s the last time you took the path less travelled, tucked into a hearty pub lunch and drank malt whiskey with new friends? Take a trip to Ayrshire for a few days and it’ll feel like second nature.

If there’s one attraction you visit during your stay then make it the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum. Scotland’s best-loved poet, Burns has a special place in the hearts of Scottish folk, and the museum houses some of his greatest works. If you’re after that day out that’ll have the kids talking about it for days, it’s got to be the Heads of Ayr Farm Park. The farm park’s home to all kinds of friendly animals who love to meet new faces, as well as bumper boats, a play area and a trampoline.

Or for a day out with a difference, take the ferry over to the Isle of Arran. It takes just 55 minutes and crosses from Ardrossan to Brodick. One of the things we love the most about the Isle of Arran is that taking time out is part of the ethos…it’s a place where it’s impossible not to slow down, look around and just be yourself. With some of the region’s most spectacular beaches (Kildonan is one of the most beautiful if you’re not sure where to start), Arran’s a great spot to fish, golf, walk, and just enjoy being away from it all.

Wherever you decide to lay your head on holiday, you’ll find that our Ayrshire holiday cottages makes the perfect base from which to explore.
