A self catering cottage in Lesbury will place you at the heart of adventure along the Northumberland coast AONB. Located slightly inland, the surrounding villages and towns hold much of interest for anyone looking for a truly varied holiday.
First stop is neighbouring Alnmouth with its colourful village houses and sweeping beach of golden sands. For those cycling enthusiasts you can also pick up the Castles Cycle Route here – 192 miles between Newcastle and Edinburgh of which 85 miles lies alongside the magnificent coastline. Perfect for spotting all manner of wildlife. Travel north and make time for two of Northumberland’s highlights: Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands. Bamburgh Castle is perhaps the jewel in Northumberland’s crown. Recently archaeological digs have unearthed both the Bamburgh Beast and the Bamburgh Sword. Fascinating! Once you’ve had your fill of the castle take a boat trip out to the Farne Islands to ogle at the thousands of seabirds there – keep your eyes on the water too as dolphins, whales and porpoises are also frequent visitors.
Back at your Lesbury rental you’ll enjoy the peace and quiet a rural holiday cottage brings. Northumberland is packed with amazing experiences, but you might find it hard to step outside of your Lesbury holiday home for long…
