Great Walsingham

Visitors often book into our Great Walsingham holiday cottages in search of an historic stay. This north Norfolk village is the smaller of two that make up the parish of Walsingham – the larger village being Little Walsingham. The area is famous for its religious connections and was once – pre-Reformation – one of the world’s most important pilgrimage sites.

Visit Great Walsingham today and you’ll find yourself skipping the mile distance between the two villages easily and regularly. You won’t be alone either as regular visitors from nearby Wells next the Sea drop in by steam train thanks to the Wells & Walsingham Light Railway.

Beyond the restored 14th century Slipper Chapel and Roman Catholic National Shrine where daily mass is held for a continuous stream of visitors, this part of north Norfolk will charm your socks off.

Amongst the medieval houses that line the historic streets you’ll find welcoming shops, museums and eateries. A Great Walsingham self-catering holiday is a foodie’s delight of artisan and local produce. Come and feast your eyes and your stomach!
