Cirencester

Referred to as the capital of the Cotswolds, Cirencester is a Gloucestershire gem. History fans will be drawn by its Roman heritage, wending medieval streets and striking architecture. Those seeking a weekend break in the Cotswolds will be met with a peaceful yet vibrant market town. Plenty to draw the eye and fascinate the mind. The golden stone of many of the holiday cottages in Cirencester is even prettier to the naked eye.

Out and about, look for the world’s tallest yew hedge. Behind it, right in the centre of town is Cirencester Park. This vast expanse of parkland hosts The Mansion, home to the Earl of Bathurst. It’s a spectacular example of great English country houses and it’s open to the public with no entry fee. Meanwhile, the Corinium Museum is a treasure trove of mosaics and the town’s Roman history. If you think you might like it here, you might want to hunt through our Cirencester holiday cottages.
