The nearby Ullswater is England’s second largest lake and was the setting for William Wordsworth poem ‘Daffodils’. There are plenty of water activities to take part in, kayaking, fishing, sailing and the Ullswater steamers. Thrill seekers can also enjoy rock-climbing, mountain climbing and horse-riding, before heading back to their Patterdale holiday cottage for a well-earned rest.
