Wander the South West Coast Path south of Bude and you’ll happen upon Widemouth Bay. Very literally named, a bird’s eye view of the bay appears as a wide mouth at the base of lush fields with occasional rocky outcrops. There are free parking spots and viewing points at either end of the beach to appreciate how the beach opens up broadly to provide a sumptuous sand basin popular with families.
Try the bay’s almost perfect surf conditions under sound tuition of a range of surf schools. Come low tide, your buckets will transform into mini aquariums if you head to the numerous rock pools that appear. Coming here for a pet-friendly holiday in Cornwall, the southern section of the beach is dog friendly all year round. At 2 miles long, that still leaves ample run around space for all.
Secure your beach spot early with a stay in one of Widemouth Bay’s holiday cottages.
