Let the fascination begin up river at National Trust’s Tudor mansion Cotehele, where its once active quay now draws you for a Cornish cream tea. Exhaust a day, and yourselves at 16th century Mount Edgcumbe, which enjoys 7km of coastal grounds for you explore on the segways provided. In search of sand, surf and wild swimming, the 3-mile beach at Whitsand Bay should be your first port of call.
