With over 200 dog-friendly holiday cottages in the Gower Peninsula you’ll be spoilt for choice when choosing where to spend your break. Famed for its dramatic coastlines and stunning sandy beaches it comes as no surprise that it was recognised as the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty back in 1956.
With over 15 dog-friendly beaches in the Gower and the surrounding area of Swansea your pooch will be able to flip his frisbee and chase the waves in a variety of locations. Top of the list of beaches which welcome dogs all year round is Rhossili Bay beach at the southwestern tip of the Swansea Gower. Described as the ‘supermodel of British beaches’ by The Independent the 3 miles of golden sand will wear your dog out in no time. Another beach high on our recommendations is Caswell Bay beach. A blue flag beach, it is popular year-round and has easy access for those with limited mobility and good facilities for families. Please note dogs are not allowed on Caswell between May & September.
From Rhossili check out the famous Worm’s Head, a tidal island supposed to resemble a sleeping dragon. ‘Wurme’ being the old Norse word for dragon. For those wanting to spend more time exploring the Worm’s Head and its links to Dylan Thomas take a look at our Rhossili cottages or head further afield to Mumbles. There you can take a stroll along the pier and check out the RNLI lifeboat station located at the end. Also, top tip, Mumbles is famed for its many, and delicious, ice cream parlours.
